Storage & Moving Tips
You'd be surprised at how much stuff you can pack into one small space.Follow these handy tips and see how EZ it can be.

Plan ahead List items to be stored and their approximate sizes. You will need cardboard boxes (conveniently available along with all of your moving supplies from your EZ Storage Site Manager) packing paper, bubble wrap, tape and marker pens. Don't forget furniture covers or any shelving you plan to use in your storage unit.
A uniform-sized box allows for maximum storage efficiency. Fill to capacity but do no overfill or under pack as a bulging carton may tip and an under packed box may collapse. Fill empty spaces with packing paper, bubble wrap, towels, etc. to protect your items. Seal cartons with tape.
Pack heavy items in small boxes for ease in handling. Try to limit all boxes to a maximum weight of 25lbs.
Label your cartons on all sides for easy identification and keep a detailed list in a safe place for future reference. Mark boxes FRAGILE as needed.
Clean and dry appliances before storing. Tape all doors shut during transport. Use space inside for extra storage. Store refrigerators and freezers with doors slightly ajar.
Remove legs from large tables to conserve space and bind legs together. Place mattresses inEZ Storage mattress covers and store on their side along with table tops.
Pack books flat to protect their spines. Line cartons with plastic and fill empty spaces with newspaper. Avoid placing boxes directly on concrete floors but rather place on pallets to avoid moisture absorption.
Hang clothing and draperies in EZ storage wardrobe boxes. Consider using cedar chips or moth balls for added protection.
Pack dishes and glassware in lots of paper or even better, use EZ Storage dish packs. Wrap each dish and glass separately and cushion with crumpled paper. Stack plates on edge. Cushion boxes both on bottom and top with paper.
Mirror and paintings should be padded with paper, packed in special packs or large boxes, and marked "fragile.” Always place them on edge, never store flat.
Store couches on end to maximize space.Place valuables such as stereos and cameras in unmarked boxes toward the rear of your space.
Use shelving and pallets to organize and utilize the height of your unit. You will save money by maximizing the space.
Leave a center aisle for easy access to items and to reach the rear of the unit. Leave a few inches of space between your items and the wall for better ventilation.
Use a good quality lock to secure your unit. Your items are valuable so ask your EZ StorageSite-Manager about reasonably priced storage insurance. For your convenience, locks and packing/moving supplies are always available on-site at EZ Storage.
